| Description: | MATAGORDA * TEXAS * April 13 (1839). Strike of double-line oval handstamp with manuscript date and "50" rate crossed out and rerated "Paid 25" on greenish folded cover to Gen. Thomas J. Green at Velasco. Receipt docketing "from S. W. Fisher 12th April /39", this must be related to the death of Samuel Rhoads Fisher, former secretary of the Texas Republic Navy, who was shot dead in March 1839, his son was Samuel W.
