Leav'h City & Pikes Peak Express Co., May 11, Express CDS on cover to "Auraria, Mouth Cherry Creek, Nebraska Territory". The cover is franked with a 3c (#26).

This is the only Leavenworth City & Pikes Peak Express cover specifically addressed to Auraria. Others are typically addressed to Denver City, or Cherry Creek.

This was the first formal express to the Pikes Peak mining area. It started up in April 1859 and lasted about 3 months, before morphing into Jones & Russell.
