During World War II, Post Office Box 1663, Santa Fe, New Mexico, was the undercover address for Manhattan District staff and family members at the secret Los Alamos laboratory where the atomic bomb was designed and built.

The Atomic Heritage Foundation lists the addressee, S/Sgt. William E. Cady, as Project Worker/Staff, semiskilled construction occupations, with four years of college.
