Description:

[trans-Atlantics] 26 August 1853 envelope from Groton, Massachusetts to Pairs, by the Cunard line steamer "America" stamped with "Br Packet" handstmap and was prepaid 21 cent when the rate by Cunard was 24 cents, the deficiency in the rate was realized and restamped with "Am Packet" and sent to NY, went by the "Arctic" and arrived in Paris and delivered to the "Forwarder Green & Co," where they paid the 8 decimes due in France, applied their own cache and sent the letter to Poste Restante, Naples in the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, struck with a "Trouve a la Boite" handstamp indicating all french charges were paid, arrived in Naples in May where 56 grani was due
