Carried on Havre Line packet "Arago", departed New York 8 Jan. 1860, arrived Southampton 20 Jan, arrived Havre 21 Jan. "Et Unis Serv. Am. Havre 21 Janv 60" octagonal French entry marking, indicating that letter was from the United States by American service via England and entered France at Havre from England.

Red boxed "PD" (paid to destination) marking applied in Paris. "Le Havre a Paris C 21 Janv 60" backstamp applied on train from Havre to Paris by postal team or brigade "C".
