Various backstamps, including Batavia 24/7 1891, Soerakanta 27/7 and 28/7 1891, Weltevreden 30/7 91. Weltevreden was the Dutch colony's administrative center in Batavia. "Return to the Writer" purple pointing hand marking likely applied in New York. 1c convenience overpayment of 5c UPU rate. Boxed marking in Dutch and French "Overleden/ Decede" (Deceased), London Sp 5 91" red cds applied during return trip, manuscript markings in blue crayon "Dead" and "To be returned".
