1c blue green (300) on picture postcard showing Forestry Building, Lewis & Clark Exposition, addressed to Lakeside, Wash.  This postcard was originally mailed with a "Lewis & Clark Exposition, Portland, Oregon, U.S.A., 1905" bicolor private label affixed featuring Mt. Hood, without proper postage. It was first postmarked Portland, Ore. Jun 20, 1905, and handstamped "Held For Postage" at top. When 1c stamp was submitted, the stamp was affixed, magenta handstamp "This is the article for which postage was sent." struck, and the stamp cancelled with "Portland, Ore. Jul 1, 1905" postmark. The magenta handstamp dated Jun 21, 1905 was probably applied when the postcard was discovered to be lacking a stamp and pulled out of the mailstream. "Lakeside, Wash. Jul 3, 1905" arrival marking.
