Troy 6 Aug, 1845
Miss Young,
We have hitherto been very unfortunate in the situation proposed to you but do not think it best to be discouraged, and therefore write you again, in reference to a situation proposed in Virginia. The application is for Mrs. McGanock (?), of Virginia, through Judge James E. Brown of Wytheville, Wythe County. She desires to obtain services of one who can teach the ordinary branch of a good English education. She has no family except her three daughters & her mother. Mr. Brown speaks of her in the highest terms. She will give a salary of two hundred dollars per annum & Board and we shall expect traveling expenses in addition. The services required will be the tuition of her own children and of a few children of her neighbors - the whole number of the school not to exceed ten.
Have the goodness to inform us immediately whether you are willing to accept the situation provided we conclude an arrangement with her.
