New York Supplementary Mail. 1895 15c dark blue pair (274) tied by two strikes of red New York Supplementary Mail Type G Apr. 1897 marking, applied at pier, on legal size cover to Paris, France endorsed "Steamer SS Majestic", April 1897 French backstamp. Paid triple UPU rate (15c), up to 1.5 oz.,  plus 15c supplementary fee = 30c postage.

RMS Majestic was a steamship built in 1890 and operated by the British White Star line on the Liverpool to New York City route. She won the coveted Blue Riband award for the fastest crossing of the Atlantic, on a westbound voyage between 30 July and 5 August 1891, with an average speed of 20.1 knots. In 1895, Majestic was assigned to Captain Edward Smith who served as her captain for nine years. Captain Smith perished when commanding the RMS Titantic in April 1912.
