Description:

Hungary 5 kr. red postal entire with "Modor 23/5 89" circular datestamp to Budapest. At the end of the second line in address (written in German) reads "Pester Dampf" (Pest Steamer). Pest was the twin city to Buda on opposite banks of the Danube River before they were unified in 1870 as Budapest. Budapest May 25, 1889 backstamp. The last word in third line of address is "Gesellschaft" (Corporation).

Modor is now known as Modra in the Bratislava Region in Slovakia. It is nestled in the foothills of the Little Carpathian mountains.
