1850 "Blood's Despatch One Cent" bronze on black glazed paper (15L13) tied by acid cancel on blue folded letter dated 1851 with "Philadelphia Pa. Aug, 28" (Clarke type 62) blue circular datestamp, with manuscript "P.M." (Postmaster) to A. Armstrong, Armstrong Mills, Belmont County, Ohio.

This folded letter was sent free because it is addressed to a postmaster. Note absence of a rate marking, thus not collect.

Alexander Armstrong (1813-1884) was the postmaster of Armstrong Mills, Belmont County, Ohio from its establishment in 1840, until his death in March 1884.
