1873 10c brown Continental Bank Note (161) well-centered, tied by cork cancel with "San Francisco Apr 1" (1875) cds on yellow cover to Paris, France, with red "New York Paid Apr 8" foreign exchange office cds, red "PD" (Paid to Destination) French marking, "Etats - Unis Cherbourg 24 Avril 75" blue double circle French entry marking of Paris Foreign Office showing letter was from the U.S. and entered France at Cherbourg.

Carried on the HAPAG (Hamburg-American) Line steamer Westphalia, departed New York 8 April 1875, arrived Plymouth, England 20 April, Cherbourg 21 April.
