[Pr Mr. Prince Express] folded letter of John Parker to Maj. Gen. Greene at Head Quarters (west side of Ashley River above the ferry) letter written the Monday before the Saturday evacuation of the British from Charleston, SC on December 14, 1782 that marked the end of the Revolutionary War, describes the chaotic state of affairs along Goose Creek and the plundering by the Leslie’s Black Dragoons in the service of the British that preceeded the evacuation of 5,237 blacks and 3,884 white men, women and children that embarked on the numerous ships

John Parker was later a delegate to the Constitutional Congress from SC (1786-1788)

Mr. Prince, of the Price Express, may have been Capt. Francis (Frank) Prince who had been a member of the SC troops
