Description:

#1, red-brown, carried on the Camden & Amboy RR.

The "PHILADA. RAIL ROAD" stamp (Towle 240-D-1) was applied in red, along with the numeral 5.

The PHILADA* marking is really more of a WAY marking than a route agents marking, since it was actually applied at the destination in New York City.

A map of this route is on page 506, figure NJ2, of Hugh Feldman's book on US Contract Mail Routes by Railroad.

This was route 1352.
