1881 3c blue green (207) tied by target cancel with "Steelton Pa. May 7, 1883" cds on cover to Harrisburg, Pa., with Philadelphia backstamps. Corner card of "Pennsylvania Steel Company, Steelton, Dauphin County, Pa."

The Pennsylvania Steel Company was located on the banks of the Susquehanna River in Steelton, Pa., and its steel mill began operating in 1868. It consisted of blast furnaces and a Bessmer process mill. The site was the first in the U.S. dedicated exclusively to the process of making steel. The company also made the first steel rails in America for commercial sale.
