"Charleston S.C. Paid Sep. 27" circular datestamp ties 1851 3c brownish carmine type I (11) on buff cover with Darlington Court house, S.C. On reverse flap is blue cameo corner card of "Love & Wienges, Saddlers, 45 Broad St. Charleston, S.C., Importers of English Saddlery, Harness, & Military Work".

3c stamp is plated to be 10L7, gash on shoulder, with an earliest known use of 2/9/1856 from plate 7. So this use must date from 1856 or later. Plating courtesy of Charles Temple.
