Description:

US Scott 65, 68, and 70 pay quadruple the regular letter rate for mail that crossed the Rockies prior to 1863, on a tattered cover which may have contained tin types. The cover was carried by Wells Fargo to the port for the trip via Panama, the entered the mails in New York for Boston.
