3c red on buff Star Die postal entire (#U27) with Wells, Fargo & Co.'s Express printed frank and blue oval "Wells, Fargo & Co. Petaluma. Apr 4" (1861) blue oval handstamp, to "George Wallace, Esq., Private Sec'y to the Governor, Sacramento".

George Wallace was Private Secretary to California Governors Milton Slocum Latham and John G. Downey (the latter in office from January 14, 1860 to January 10, 1862).
