3c green Centennial envelope, front only, "Centennial, Phila'da. May 25, 5 PM" (1876) circular datestamp, with typewritten address to Utica, New-York. This is the earliest documented use for Centennial envelope with typed address, with 2005 APEX cert.

The newly invented typewriter was demonstrated at the Exposition, and the Centennial envelopes were addressed on the typewriters with accompanying typed lettersĀ and sent by visitors to those back home as souvenirs. A supply of 3c green indicia Centennial envelopes were kept at the Remington booth for patrons. The Exposition was open from May 10 to November 10, 1876.
