Description:

CSA #7 5c blue pair, Archer & Daly printing, tied by "Botetourt Springs Va. Jul 20" (1864) 37mm circular datestamp, on homemade cover to Chesterfield, Va. Ex-Judd, his notes on back, Ezra Cole.

Judd notes the stamp as #206, which refers to the old Scott numbering system. In Scott's 1948 U.S. Specialized Catalogue under "Number Changes" it announces for Confederate States: "No. in 1948 Catalogue: 200-213, No. in 1949 Catalogue: 1-14"

The post office in Botetourt Springs, Roanoke County, Virginia, was in operation from 1827 to 1885.
