Red Wells Fargo Express Stamp Aurora on legal size cover. 1862- Date and contents can be deduced by the people on the back of the cover. Addressed to the County Clerk, Sacramento County. Names on back include:Moultrie( Aurora 1861-63 judge) ,Sterns (1861-64 lawyer), Dekay (1861-62 Deputy County Clerk), Morse (1863-6?second lawyer) and Johnson (owner of the Pride of utan Mine).Back says depositions / AC Morse vs Peter Johnson, meaning this contained legal documents and legal in 1862 mean a mining suit. There was a major legal battle in early 1862 between Pride of Utah and Wild West Mine. Aurora was known to be in Nevada by this time, but the depositions were sent to California ? This case though, most probably started when, Aurora was thought to be in California.
