Description:

10c deep blue, Die B (CSA #12) deep rich color from a Keatinge & Ball printing, tied by "Bonsack Va. Mar. 8" (1865) circular datestamp on U.S. 10c green on buff Nesbitt entire (U16) to Blacks and Whites, Nottoway County, Va.  A very rare use of a Confederate stamp on an obsolete U.S. entire. One of only two recorded of the 10c Nesbitt entire used this way - the other example has a CSA #11 that is cut-to-shape, ex-Boshwit. This example is ex-Clovis. With 1987 P.F. certificate. Signed by Brian Green, Jack Molesworth notes on back.
