12c Black (#17) used with two 3c Dull Red, Type II (#11A),  tied by grid cancels and "Lancaster Pa. Sep. 10" circular datestamp on 3c Red on White Nesbitt entire (#U9, note size) to Paris, France, faint red "New.York Am. Packet. Sep 19" circular datestamp, Calais transit datestamp and "8" decimes due handstamp, British transit backstamp, an extremely rare combination of stamps and stationery to prepay the 21c American Packet rate.

Even though this cover is endorsed "Per Steamer Canada from Boston", it was too late to reach that Cunard Line steamer which sailed from Boston on 12 Sept. 1855, and was instead carried by the Collins Line steamer Atlantic which departed New York 19 Sept. 1855. This is evidenced by the New York Am. Packet Sep 19 exchange office cds. Additionally, both the pre-payment of 21c and the 8 decimes due agrees with an American packet having taken it.

It is interesting that it appears endorsed for the Canada, but pre-paid more than necessary for that. Maybe the sender knew it would be a close call and paid more just in case. The Atlantic arrived in Liverpool Sep 30. There is a British Oct 1 backstamp, which agrees. Information courtesy of Mark Rogers.
