1870 Reay Issue 2c brown on manila wrapper (#W81) Nasua N.H. April (1872) cds and cork cancel, to London, England. Forwarded 3X - first to Venice, Italy -  Venezia 13 May 1872 cds, front and back. Paris 29 April transit marking on back. Next it was forwarded to Maquay Hooker Co. in Rome, Italy. Rome 31 May 72 arrival marking on back. Various Italian city carrier oval markings on back. Finally forwarded to Villa Giulia, Bellaggio, Sago (Lake) Como, Italy.

Maquay, Hooker & Co. were American bankers who had offices in Rome, Florence and Leghorn, Italy. Americans traveling in Italy would register at their offices and arrange to have their mail sent there to be held for pickup. Unclaimed letters at Maquay, Hooker & Co.'s offices in Italy were published in in Anglo-American Times newspaper, London. The company would also publish lists of Americans registered at their office in Rome in the same newspaper.

The final destination of this cover, Villa Giulia at Bellaggio on Lake Como, in Lombardy in northern Italy, was built by Count Paola Venini in 1806. After his death the Villa passed onto Belgian King Leopold I. In 1865 the Villa was sold and made into a luxury hotel for a number of years until purchased by the wealthy Polish banker Baron Gary.
