The post office in Swift Island, Montgomery County, North Carolina, was established in 1850 (name change from Lawrenceville) and closed in 1905. David A. Boyd was the postmaster starting on 25 June 1866, when Federal operation resumed after the Civil War, until 20 July 1868 when Andrew Maner took over. Maner was the pre-war postmaster (from 11 June 1860) and served as acting CSA postmaster effective 1 June 1861.
