2c carmine, die 1 postal entire (#U429) upgraded with 1931 2c black & red Red Cross issue (#702) with "Boise Idaho Jul 31 1931 9:30 PM" machine cancel, locally addressed, double weight cover. Same correspondence as Cover ID 27245.

Postal entire is Thorp no. 2735, die 132 (A), knife 61, size 9, 1929 watermark no. 30A.
 UPSS knife 124, size 25.

On January 1, 1930 the substance weight of standard paper for stamped envelopes was raised from 22 to 24 lbs. and is differentiated by the 1929 watermark variety 30A, such as in this example. It was stipulated in the contract that extra quality paper for stamped envelopes must not contain less than 50% rags and standard quality paper must be free from unbleached or ground wood pulp. This particular envelope size (Thorp size 9) was only made in standard quality.
