Postmark: Oct 22, 1853
Origin: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, UNITED STATES
Destination: Wilmington, Delaware, UNITED STATES

Description:

3c red on white die 2 Nesbitt postal entire (#U3) with 1c blue Eagle Carrier stamp (#LO2) with red star carrier cancel, blue "Philadelphia Pa. Nov 22" circular datestamp, to Wilmington, Delaware. Red Nesbitt seal on rear flap.

The Philadelphia postmark is Clarke type 63a, recorded in blue with a EKU of 7/1/1852, and a LKU of 12/3/1853. Which leads me to conclude that it is probably a 1853 use, especially since it has a Nesbitt seal on reverse, which appears only on the first production run, produced prior to July 7, 1853.
