3c rose (#65) tied by black cork cancel with red "Boston Mass Jul 20" 26mm double circle datestamp on cover to Clinton, Mass., with embossed colorless corner card "Revere House. Boston."

This Boston postmark is Blake no. 993, which is known in red from 2/21/61 to 7/4/65, so this cover probably dates from 1862 to 1864. The six-segment cork cancel is Blake no. 1032.

The Revere House, in Bowdoin Square, was one of Boston's most prestigious hotels in the mid-nineteenth century. It was named after Paul Revere, but was not Revere's actual house.  Information courtesy of Mark Schwartz.
