"Astoria Ogn Sep 5" (1858) cds ties 1857 10c green type II (#32) on orange cover to Cadet John Adair, West Point Military Academy, New York. Docketed "Recd Oct 15 1858" (40 days transit).

Traveled by ship from Astoria to San Francisco, where it caught the PMSS steamer Sonora which departed Sept. 21, 1858, arrived at Panama City on Oct. 5, traveled across the Isthmus by railroad, arrived at Aspinwall on Oct. 5 where it caught the USMSC Star of the West, which arrived at New York City on Oct. 15.
