Sopron (German: Ödenburg) is a city in Hungary on the Austrian border, near Lake Neusiedl (Hungarian: Lake Fertő). The "Délelőtt" in the postmark at upper right means Morning. The "Délután" in the postmark tying the stamp means Afternoon.

2k printed matter rate to Italy. The printed notice in German is from the Ursuline Church (Order of St. Angela) in Sopron (Ödenburg) to the Mother Superior in the Ursuline Order in Gavardo, reporting the death of one of the sisters in the convent at the age of 65, at 11 in the morning on 17 August 1873, having been in the Order for 44 years.  A request is made for prayers to be said for her soul. "Requiescat in Pace" at the end is Latin for "Rest in Peace".
