1852 (June 16) Liverpool, England to Philadelphia Pa., folded letter bearing Great Britain 1 shilling green, vertical pair (#5), tied by barred numeral "466" grid cancels prepaying 1 shilling per ½ oz. packet rate plus 1 shilling Floating Receiving House fee, "Liverpool F.R.H. JU 16 1852" origin backstamp and red "21 / Cents" credit handstamp for American packet, partial red New York "Jun 26 Paid 24" exchange circular datestamp. Scarce Floating House use.

Endorsed the Collins Line steamer "Atlantic", which departed Liverpool on June 16, and arrived in New York on June 26, 1852.

The landing stage at Liverpool for the incoming Ocean ships was a floating landing stage, upon the south end of which was erected a small mail receiving hut called the Floating Receiving House (F.R.H.) from 1849 to 1864 for the receiving of late mail up to the time of departure for the steam packet to America. This is the same as New York Supplementary mail and an additional charge of 1 shilling was charged for this service.
