Description: To the mails, prepayment attempted by Blood's local (15L14), apparently dropped by mistake into a government box. Marked "REC'D/OCT. 1", and held until proper payment for carrier service received. Entered mails October 4. Postage prepaid by three cents 1861, and carrier fee paid by one cent 1857, which by this time had been demonetised for postage, but apparently not for paying the fee. Local and one cent adhesives both cancelled by year dated townmark.
