Description: Local letter, delivered by City Despatch Post operated by Abraham Mead. Franked with green adhesive (40L2), made from Greig's plate, with the value changed from three cents to two cents. Handstamp "CITY DESPATCH POST/P.O." adopted by Mead, who reopened the post after the closing of the government carrier office in late November 1846. Mead had been one of the carriers. Cancelled by "FREE" in octagon.
