1861 1c blue (#63) tied by "Westpoint Ky. Dec 5" 35mm circular datestamp on homemade wrapper made of ruled paper, printed matter rate, to Verona, New York.

Based on the postmark this must be either a 1861 or 1862 use because the printed matter rate went up to 2c effective July 1, 1863.

West Point is a city in Hardin County, Kentucky, near the edge of Fort Knox military reservation. West Point sits at the confluence of the Ohio and Salt rivers, a strategic position that led Union forces to construct a fort here during the Civil War to protect their supply routes.
