Pomeroy's Letter Express 5c black on dull yellow (#117L1) with red "Cd." cancel, on folded letter datelined "Albany. Sep 2, 1844" to New York. Red boxed "Boyd's City Express Post. Sep 3, 3 O'C." marking, indicating that Boyd's, who had an arrangement with Pomeroy, delivered this letter to the street address indicated. There is no Boyd's "Paid" or "Free" marking, so the recipient paid Boyd's 2 cents for street delivery.

Letter content has to do with ordering clock mechanisms with "handsome landscape dials. Gold balances would be preferred in the movements . . ."
