1934 National Parks issue 5c blue (#744) horiz. pair and single plus 6c orange reg. issue (#638) tied by oval mute cancels on registered oversize cover from the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway Co., 120 Broadway, New York, N.Y. to Canastota, New York. Purple oval New York  N.Y. 12. 20 1934 oval Registry backstamps and purple circular Canastota Registered backstamp.

Envelope is of heavy kraft paper construction with inscription "Triple ----- Tamperproof Envelope (Patent Applied For) . . . "

Canastota is a village inside the Town of Lenox in Madison County, N.Y., located on the banks of the Erie Canal. In the late 19th Century and early 20th Century Italian families emigrated to Canastota to become tenant farmers and land owners. Canastota was often referred to as the onion capital of the world.
