Envelope (no contents) franked with 8 copies of the 3c issue of 1861, and sealed with a small part of the selvage of the British penny red. From the Jewett correspondence, where several letters have more of this selvage. The rate of 24c is shown in the Lynn integral 24 PAID CDS. The letter went by American packet, so the credit to the UK was 3c, as shown in the Boston exchange office CDS. |
